1937 – 2016
LEWISTON — Kenneth R. Ronco, 79, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his residence on Sunday, July 17, on the 52nd anniversary of marriage to his late wife, Harriet Luce Ronco.
Born in Dexter on April 30, 1937, he was the son of the late Raymond and Evelyn (Folsom) Ronco. Ken was educated in Dexter schools and was a graduate of Springfield College.
He pursued a 25-year teaching career eventually retiring from Lisbon High School, where he also coached basketball and was a driver’s education instructor.
Throughout his life, he held many positions in the harness racing industry, including executive secretary of the Harness Horseman’s Association, director of racing at the Fryeburg Fair and an official at many of the fairs throughout the state.
He leaves behind his daughters, Mollie Ronco and her companion, Kevin Coburn, of Oxford, Jennie Ronco Breton of Lewiston, and Annie Ronco Lanzieri and her husband, Mark, of Monmouth; grandchildren, Kristi and Casey Conroy, Stephanie and Benjamin Hamm and Alexander Breton; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, Harriet A. Luce, whom he married on July 17, 1964, and who died on Feb. 5, 2010, and his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Herbert Ronco; and a sister, Maxine Ronco Warren.
