LEWISTON — The Stanton Bird Club of Lewiston and Auburn has announced its August trips.

Wednesday guided bird walks are set for 8 to 11 a.m. Aug. 3, 17 and 31.

The group will explore St. Peter’s Cemetery on Aug. 3 and look for summer residents. On Aug. 17, the walk will be at Woodbury Nature Sanctuary, a plot of hilly ground and mixed hardwood forest nestled on the border between Litchfield and Monmouth.

The meeting place for these walks is the Promenade Mall parking lot near Staple’s, 855 Lisbon St.

The last guided walk of the month will be at the Cathance River Nature Preserve in Topsham on Aug. 31. This preserve is a large network of trails with flora and fauna. Attendees will meet at 8 a.m. at the Food City Shopping Center, 583 Lisbon St., Lisbon Falls.

Bird walk leaders will be Stan and Joan DeOrsey. They may be contacted at 207-406-4741 or by jsmd@att.net with questions.

The club will visit Scarborough Marsh and Pine Point from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 13, meeting at Promenade Mall. The group hopes to find migrating shorebirds, a heron or a glossy ibis. Trip leader Dan Marquis may be contacted at 207-513-8213.

All field trips are free and open to everyone. Carpooling from the meeting place is included. Leaders identify and comment on birds they see and hear, and everyone points out birds they notice.
