NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine has announced its August calendar. All activities are free to those impacted by cancer.
The center is located at 199 Main St. in the Stephens Memorial Hospital Specialty Clinic building. Drop-in hours are Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m
Volunteers are available to provide comfort items such as port protectors, wigs, hats, pillows or to find resources. Brochures and the lending library are available for use.
Coloring for Adults: 1 to 2 p.m. Thursdays.
Cards and Games: 1 to 2:30 p.m. Fridays.
Yoga for Wellness: 8 to 9 a.m. Fridays on dates that will be announced on the website. Instructor Kat Larsen will teach the class, which will include breathing exercises, movement and relaxing meditation.
Knitting and Crocheting: 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays, Aug. 11 and 18.
Community Cancer Cut and Sew: 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, Aug. 10 and 24, and from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Sew Orchid Design, 316 Main St.
Reiki 1: 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16. Reiki is a gentle, hands-on technique intended to relieve stress and discomfort and to complement the medical treatments prescribed by a physician. Charlotte LaBelle of Teresia Reiki will instruct participants to connect with themselves through the introduction to Reiki 1.
Crafting with Barbara: 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Sew Orchid Design, 316 Main St. Barbara Daigle is beginning a series of non-sewing and beginner sewing crafts.
