1950 – 2016

LEWISTON — Richard J. Masterson I, 65, of Rumford died Thursday, July 14, at the Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, after battling a 6-week lung infection. He resided with his son, Richard Masterson II.

He was born in Providence, R.I., on July 20, 1950, a son of Richard F. and Maureen Masterson and had attended schools in Rhode Island. He was raised and lived in Warwick, R.I., for several years before deciding to move to Maine after remembering the fond memories he had at his family’s summer camp on Sebec Lake as a child. He worked various jobs including many years as a truck driver for Coca-Cola Company in Rhode Island, stock car racing, demo derbys, Decosters Egg Farm, as a farm hand for Rob Cameron and Andover Wood Products.

Survivors include son, Richard J. Masterson II of Rumford; daughters, Laura Peach and Sandra Masterson; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Judith Yates.
