Alcohol Ink Painting at SAD 52

TURNER — SAD 52 Adult & Community Education has announced the offering of Alcohol Ink Painting on Tuesday, Aug. 9.

Participants will experience painting with alcohol inks on Yupo with two size options, an 8- by 12-inch or an 11- by 14-inch. No experience is required.

Benefit golf tournament Aug. 20

POLAND — The sixth annual golf tournament sponsored by the Western Maine Veteran’s Advisory Committee will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Fairlawn Golf Course.

Proceeds benefit Maine Veterans’ Home activity programs.

Registration is still open. The cost is $80 per player. Included is 18 holes of golf, a cart, two mulligans per player and drawings for a chance to shoot a hole-in-one for $1M. There will also be a buffet dinner, and a putting contest wish cash prizes for winning players.

The tournament will be presented as a scramble format.

Great Falls Balloon Festival needs volunteers

LEWISTON  — Volunteers are needed for the 24th annual Great Falls Balloon Festival, scheduled for Aug. 19 to 21 at Simard-Payne Memorial Park in Lewiston and Festival Plaza in Auburn.

Available volunteer positions include: souvenir/information booth, field cleanup, crowd control, supply delivery and balloon crews. Shifts are typically one to four hours.

Both groups and individuals are encouraged to volunteer.
