The merger of three Lewiston-Auburn funeral homes will protect the homes from large acquisition companies and thereby keep them closely connected to the community, says a director of the newly formed Fortin Group. “In the past five to ten years there has been a trend of large acquisition companies buying out funeral homes,” explained funeral director Roger Bouffard. The recent merger of Fortin Funeral Home, Plummer & Merrill Funeral Home and Teague & Finley Funeral Home will help protect the three against acquisition, he said.
