WAYNE — The Cary Library Loon Festival & Lobster Roll Lunch will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at the library’s Williams House.
The schedule of events is:
Cary Memorial Library 5K Walk/Run: The fifth annual 5K will start at 9 a.m. at the elementary school. Registration may be completed at www.cary-memorial.lib.me.us.
Bake sale and book sale: The library will sell a wide selection of home-baked foods, loon cookies, loon crafts, gently used books and collectibles from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Quilt raffle: A new queen size quilt in the Follow the Blue Brick Road patter made by local quilters will be up for raffle. Tickets may be purchased between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Children’s craft and story: Children can make a lobster craft to take home, and have story time about the Maine coast from 10 to 1 p.m.
Loon calling contest: All ages may try their skills at calling like a loon at 11 a.m.
10 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. under the tent. There will be a choice of made-to-order lobster meat salad overstuffed on a toasted roll with chips, pickles, drinks and homemade blueberry cake, or a chicken salad roll or plate. There is a peanut butter and jelly option for children. Lobster costs $18; chicken, $8; and peanut butter, $5. Lunches to go will be available.
Silent auction: The library’s annual silent auction will be open for browsing.
