This is in response to Cornelius Swanton’s letter, “Clinton voters are uninformed” (July 29).

What needs to be made clear is that the person most uninformed today is not so much the voters, it is, far more critically, Donald Trump himself.

As example, when asked a question on an issue of which he has little knowledge, his pat response is, “Yeah, we’re looking into that.” Or when asked about his advisers on world affairs, he has replied, “I watch the cable news shows, talk to people.” No study, no intellectual curiosity is apparent in his responses. He is out of his element.

More, his element is belittlement, as evidenced by these quotes which his core supporters dismiss without inspection:

“Women are pigs.” “She had blood coming out of her nose … out of her … wherever.” “You can tell them to go … themselves.”

Imagine the above on a job application under “Things I’ve said,” especially if the interviewer is a woman.

Yet, Hillary Clinton supporters are “uninformed.” Yes, she has made serious mistakes. On microscopic inspection, hasn’t everyone? But, she is a servant and a friend to the 8 million children who have health insurance today because of her.

So here’s the question for this election, with its bedrock the proverb, “Tell me who you walk with, and I will tell you who you are.”

Who do we, as a nation, wish to be identified with? An imperfect friend, or a known bully?

It is vital for voters to see the distinction.
