LEWISTON — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Kathleen F. “Kay” Koss was celebrated by the Rev. Stephen Cartwright on Thursday, Aug. 4, at Holy Family Church of the Prince of Peace Parish following prayers at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home.

Before Mass, Kay’s great-grandchildren helped place the white burial pall representing her Baptism into a new spiritual life with God on their great-grandmother’s casket.

During Mass, a New Testament reading was proclaimed by Kay’s granddaughter, Marcie Bryant. The Prayer of the Faithful was recited by granddaughter Kim Blais. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Kay’s brother, Sonny Traynor and his wife, Connie.

After the Mass, the funeral procession passed the Koss family home on East Avenue in tribute to Kay, after which the Rev. Cartwright recited committal prayers after arrival at St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Following committal prayers, Kay’s granddaughter Ashley Koss read the poem “Rainbow” in honor of her grandmother. Words of Remembrance were then shared by Kay’s sons, Wayne and Robert Koss, concluding services.

Then all in attendance were invited to a reception of fellowship at Gippers Sports Grill in Auburn.

The pallbearers were Robert and Wayne Koss, Clayton Matthews, David Smith, Kameron Koss, Chris Fournier and honorary pallbearer, Patrick Fournier.

Final burial will take place at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Augusta. Arrangements by Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home of Lewiston.
