1942 – 2016

AUBURN — Gloria E. Pettengill, 74, of Lewiston passed away at the Hospice House on Monday, Aug. 8.

She was born in Lewiston on Jan. 15, 1942, the daughter of the late Joseph and Ann (Bennette) Banville. During her life, Gloria worked for several area businesses including Raytheon, the Steer House, Happy Jack’s and was the secretary for Shapiro Hearing Aid Center for 27 years prior to her retirement. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies of St. Anne’s Sodality at St. Patrick’s Church.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Larry, who predeceased her Aug. 14, 2009. She also enjoyed crafting, fine dining and trips to the casino with her best friend, Rose.

Gloria is survived by her sons, Carl Pettengill, Larry Jr. “Chip” and his wife, Denise, both of Lewiston; her sister, Lorraine Houle of Lisbon; and her lifelong friend, Rose Murphy of Auburn. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Zachary and his wife, Chantel Pettengill, Matthew Pettengill, Cara Courchesne and her husband, Anthony Ronzio, Kristina Gaumont and Ian Beaule, Lindsey Torres and her wife, Emily, Andrew Gaumont and Meghan Girouard; and three great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Sawyer Pettengill, and Elena Ronzio.

She was predeceased by her husband, Larry Pettengill; her parents, Joseph and Ann Banville; and her brothers, Henry, John, Joseph “Buddy” and Larry Banville.
