1923 – 2016

LEWISTON — Laurette G. Doyon, 93, of 10 Oak Park and formerly of Rideout Avenue, Lewiston, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 7, after a short illness at her daughter’s house, with her family by her side.

She was born in Beauceville, Quebec, a daughter of the late Arthur and Valerie Lachance Jacques. She married Lucien P. Doyon on June 21, 1944. He died Oct. 7, 1979.

Laurette worked in local shoe shops and retired June 1985 from Bates Mill after 20 years. After retirement, she worked at Marshwood Nursing Home and volunteered 20 years at the Good Shepherd Food-Bank. She was a former member of Ste. Famille Parish in Lewiston.

She is survived by three children, Paul Doyon of Arkansas, Gaston and Julie Doyon of Turner and Doris and Gene Gorey of Lewiston; her sister, Agatha Roy of Sherbrooke, Canada; her brother, Jean and Alice Jacques of Litchfield; and grandchildren, Jamie and Lucy Reynolds, Joshua and Ally Doyon, Jared and Amanda Doyon; two great-granddaughters, Effie and Amelia; special friends, Dot Charpentier, Terry Beaudin and many friends at Oak Park.

She was also predeceased by three children, John, Ronnie and Carol; as well as four sisters and five brothers.

The family wishes to give a special “thank you” to the staff at Central Maine Medical Center and Hospice.
