LHS graduate Scott Gagne, who has performed at the Center in the past, is 2015 USM graduate. He now lives in Stuart, Florida, and is pursuing a career as a musician. He opened for Charlie Daniels last summer and is now the lead guitarist for The Cassidy Diana Band, who have shared the stage with acts such as Jamey Johnson and Thompson Square. He also performs as a solo artist in the south Florida area.
His dad, Ernie Gagne is a fourth-grade teacher at Geiger Elementary School. He uses his guitar and music as teaching tools in the classroom and also teaches students basic guitar chords after school. He writes songs based on life experiences, often with a twist of humor.
The cost of the lobster roll meal and the programs is $12 per person. Those not wishing to have lobster can replace it with homemade chicken salad roll for just $10. The doors open at 10 a.m.
La Rencontre is in no way restricted to French-speakers or even those of Franco descent. All are welcome to attend this fun monthly meal and event, as long as spots remain open.
After the meal, there will be a brief presentation in the “Healthy Gathering” series that is offered by St. Mary’s Hospital and Central Maine Medical Center. This month’s talk will be on Substance abuse and presented by Jill Duplissis and Paul Rouleau. Several raffle prizes will be drawn at the end.
The Gendron Franco Center is handicapped-accessible and is located on the corner of Cedar and Oxford Streets in the “Little Canada” section of Lewiston, just across the bridge from New Auburn.
