1928 – 2016

LEWISTON — Frances V. Bailey, of Lewiston, died Monday, Aug. 8, at Marshwood Center surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Lewiston on July 5, 1928, the daughter of Frank Terrio and Charlotte (Arseneault) Terrio. She attended Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High School.

On June 12, 1948, she married the love of her life, Ralph H. Bailey Jr. Together, they built their home and raised their three children on Chadbourne Road in Lewiston. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage before Ralph’s passing in 2013.

She worked at the Lewiston Sun Journal after high school, JCPenney, Farnsworth Mill in Lisbon Center and Bates College, before her retirement. Then she worked part time for her daughter-in-law at the Settlement for a number of years.

Frances loved camping in Rangeley, fishing, traveling with Ralph around the United States and Canada, playing bingo, knitting and doing jigsaw puzzles. She was a talented seamstress, sewing matching outfits for Trudy and her friend, Dixie, when they were little girls. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. Her grandkids were very special to her, as were the great-grandchildren; she loved having everyone over for Christmas dinner.
