BOWDOIN — Maine State Police say alcohol and speed were factors in a pickup truck crash on Route 138 that injured three people Wednesday night.

Two people were thrown from the truck and a third was trapped inside. They were taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, according to a statement from Stephen McCausland, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman.

The driver, Robert Mathews Jr., 28, of Bath and Emily Freeman, 16, of Topsham were thrown from the cab of the truck, according to McCausland. Caleb Donaldson, 19, of Woolwich had to be freed from the overturned truck.

Troopers said Mathews lost control of the 2001 Chevrolet at about 10:30 p.m. on a curve in heavy fog. The truck rolled several times before coming to rest on its roof against a group of trees, McCausland said. There was no indication anyone was wearing seat belts, he said.

Troopers said no charges were filed but they planned to consult the district attorney’s office.
