PARIS — A Brownfield man has been sentenced to three years in prison after admitting to sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 14 in 2012. 

Andrew Tracy, 26, pleaded guilty to a single count of felony gross sexual assault in Oxford County Unified Court Friday afternoon. 

In exchange for the change in plea, prosecutors dropped two counts of unlawful sexual contact alleging that Tracy sexually touched the same girl in 2003 when she was either 2 or 3 years old, and again in 2014. 

Active-Retired Justice Robert Clifford agreed with a joint recommendation from a prosecutor and Tracy’s defense counsel to a suspended 12-year sentence. Tracy will serve three years of that sentence, and be subjected to 10 years of probation upon his release. His attorney, Sarah Glynn, said Tracy will be on the sex offender registry for life. 

Oxford County Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Winter said Tracy was discovered by another woman inappropriately touching the victim. Tracy admitted to the conduct, Winter said, cooperated with authorities during the course of the investigation, and underwent a mental health examination. 

In a written statement, the victim told Clifford that the sexual abuse prevented her from attending school and left her sad, worried and confused. She asked the court to impose a sentence of six months to one year.

Tracy is barred from having contact with children under the age of 12 without supervision.
