LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens will host the annual Summer Fun Day and welcome members with a barbecue celebration on Monday, Aug. 29, at the Lewiston Memorial Armory.

Doors will open at 9 a.m. Bingo will be at 9:30 a.m. and outdoor games will follow, weather-permitting. Lunch will be served at noon. After lunch, Doug McCarthy will entertain with his traveling piano. There will be raffles, a 50/50 drawing and door prizes.

Tickets are available in the office between 8 a.m. and noon Monday through Thursday. Those attending do not need to be a member of the Lewiston Senior Citizens.

The group’s next meeting will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at the Lewiston Armory. Lewiston City Clerk Kathy Montejo will be guest speaker. She will talk about the general election and the absentee ballot procedure.

The group will host Maine humorist Tim Sample at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Lewiston Middle School. Tickets cost $15 in advance, $20 at the door and can be purchased in the senior office.

The following trips are sponsored by the Lewiston Seniors and are open to the public:

Maine wineries: Tuesday, Sept. 20. Travelers will visit two Maine wineries in the Vassalboro area and engage their senses as they sniff and sip the aromas and flavors of wines. Lunch will be at Ruby Tuesday’s, paid for by the participant. The price is $45 and covers the bus, wine tastings and tips. The deadline to sign up is Thursday, Sept. 1.

Branson Show Extravaganza: Friday, Nov. 11, to Monday, Nov. 21. The trip to Branson, Missouri, includes 10 nights of lodging, 18 meals, three morning shows and three evening shows, a cruise with dinner and a show on the Showboat Branson Belle on Table Rock Lake. There will be free time at Branson Landing for shopping and dining and a tour of historic downtown. A $75 deposit is due at registration. 

Christmas Tour at the White Mountain Resort: Wednesday, Nov. 30, to Friday, Dec. 2. This trip to Conway, New Hampshire, includes two nights and five meals, three shows and a train ride on the Apple Cider Express. Attendees will visit the White Mountain Store and Cider Mill. A $50 deposit is due upon registering.
