Camp Sunshine motorcycle ride

LEWISTON — Over 200 local motorcycles will gather for the seventh annual Lewiston-Auburn Harley Davidson Camp Sunshine Ride on Saturday, Aug. 13.

Ride begins at 1 p.m. at L-A Harley-Davidson, travels Route 4 to Livermore Falls, Route 133 to Farmington, then Route 27 to Sugarloaf. Approximate arrival time is 2:30 p.m.

Event aims to raise $10,000 for Camp Sunshine, a free retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families on Sebago Lake.

Heroin, Opiate Community Forum

FRYEBURG — The Western Maine Addiction Recovery Initiative will hold the Heroin and Opiate Community Forum from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Fryeburg Academy in the Leura Eastman Performing Arts Center, 18 Bradley St. 

This is a public conversation about heroin and opiate use and the impacts they are having on the community of Oxford County. 

Panel presentations will be made by law enforcement, emergency responders, treatment providers, people in recovery, councilors and more.

Project Hot Spot crime reduction

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Police Department, U.S. Attorney’s Office, Androscoggin County DA’s Office, Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, and representatives from other agencies want to continue their partnership with community members at an informational meeting and panel discussion.

The Project Hot Spot meeting will be held  at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Gov. James B. Longley Elementary School, 145 Birch St.

Androscoggin Republican barbecue meeting

TURNER — The Androscoggin County Republican Committee barbecue meeting will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, at the Great Outdoors, 68 Naiad Lane, across from the Turner Highlands Golf Course.

The gates will open at 5 p.m. for swimming, and hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided for $5 per person. Those attending should bring a side dish, drinks and a dessert to share. 

The event is open to all register Republicans. This will be an opportunity to meet candidates. The guest speaker will be Peter Gore, Maine Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of Government Relations, who will speak on Ballot Question 4 regarding the proposed raising of the minimum wage in Maine.

Psychic, Healing Fair Aug. 21

LEWISTON — A Psychic and Healing Fair is planned from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at the Ramada Inn, 490 Pleasant St.

Those attending may learn about themselves or passed loved ones.

There will be 3D aura photography, jewelry, animal communicators, a wide assortment of gems, crystals and minerals, energy healing, medium readings, tarot card readings, incense, spiritual items and door prizes every half hour.

Admission is $5. Workshops are included with the price of admission to the fair.
