1936 – 2016

LEWISTON — Raymond J. Forgues, 80, of Lewiston, passed away at d’Youville Pavilion following a long illness with his family by his side. On Saturday, Aug. 13 he made his entrance into heaven.

He was born in Lewiston on April 2, 1936, the son of Albert and Marie-Anne (Caron) Forgues. He attended local schools before enlisting in the military. Raymond joined the National Guard, serving 9 ½ years with one year of active duty. He later worked for a period of time for the City of Lewiston, followed by many years at the local shoe factories.

Raymond was well known throughout the community for his talent for dancing and rollerskating. He was often compared to the famous actor, Jimmy Durante for his infamous nose. Ray will be remembered by his family, extended d’Youville family, and friends for his sarcastic charm and wit.

Raymond is survived by his daughter, Kelly and husband, Todd Michaud, of Sabattus; son, Normand Forgues; brothers, Roland Forgues and wife, Marianne, of Florida, Fern Forgues and wife, Dory, of Florida, Ronald Forgues and wife, Corona, of Arizona; sister, Jeannine Forgues-Sutterlund of Florida; grandson, Brandon Michaud of Sabattus; friends, Ruth Vachon of Lewiston and Wanda Berry of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Albert Forgues; and mother, Marie-Anne Forgues.

The family also wishes to thank the staff at D’Youville, 4East, for the dedicated and compassionate care they provided him for the last years of his life. That was “home” for him.
