LIVERMORE — Selectpersons Tuesday appointed Cea Jay Pitcher to fill the vacant Regional School Unit 73 school board director position.
Former Director Mark Holt did not run for re-election this year.
Holt had said he chose not to run because of family and work obligations.
Town Clerk Renda Guild said she had contacted those whose names were written in for the position during the June vote, but they were not interested in the position.
The vacancy has been posted on the town’s Facebook page, and Guild said she asked several people about the opening.
“Cea Jay Pitcher, who lives on the Gibbs Mill Road, is very interested in serving,” Guild said.
Pitcher’s appointment is for the remainder of this year until another election is held.
Pitcher attended his first school board meeting Thursday night.
After the meeting, he said he and his wife, Bethany, have two sons in the school district.
“I want to get involved,” Pitcher said. “I have two kids in the school system. I want to be more involved in the town.”
His sons, Carter and Jackson, will be entering the fourth- and fifth-grades respectively this year at the new Spruce Mountain Elementary School in Jay.
