1946 – 2016

NORWAY — Lillian E. (Hatch) Messier, 70, of Wilton was set free to walk the streets of gold in Heaven on Sunday, Aug. 14.

She was born on her parents wedding day on March 9, 1946,the eldest daughter of Ira (Bug) and Roaine Hatch of Dryden.

She attended Wilton Academy. She graduated with the Class of 1981. Lillian married Omer Smith. Later in life, she married Art Messier and they made their home in New Vineyard.

Lillian’s greatest love was her family. It gave her great joy to attend and cheer on her grandchildren at their sporting events and other activities. She was their greatest fan.

She held many jobs; the Tannery, Livermore Shoe, Village Inn/Inn Town, Chuck Wagon and Forster Manufacturing.

She attended church in New Vineyard, Beans Corner Baptist and Emmanuel Assembly of God. She brightened the lives of many with her great sense of humor and ability to do anything to make others laugh or smile. She was in her element while blessing others.

She is survived by her children, Ruby Couturier, Lisa Smith, Warren “Scotty” (Angela) Smith, and Marlene (Tim) Phillips; beloved grandchildren, Logan, Dylan, Angelina, Kimberly, Alexa (Craig), Tucker, Garret, Chelsae (Nick), Savannah, and Jaydon; great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Nicholas, and Connor; siblings, Harland (Nancy) Clemens, Hazel (Lincoln) Flagg, William “Billy” (Carol) Hatch Sr., Lester (Helen) Hatch, Martha (Fred) Andrews, and Alan (Brenda) Hatch.

She was predeceased by her parents; son-in-law, Ronaldo Couturier; and her sister-in-law, Glenda Webber.
