1925 – 2016
SOUTH PARIS — Maurice O. Paul, 91, of South Paris passed away peacefully at his home Monday, Aug. 15, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Farmington to Harry and Ethel Hoyt Paul on July 24, 1925. He graduated from Farmington High School in 1943 and attended Auburn School of Commerce before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, he faithfully served his country during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Maurice was the general manager of Cornwall Wood Products from 1952-1977, then he owned Oxford Pine Products from 1977 until retiring in 2007. Maurice was a lifetime member and past commander of the Foster-Carroll American Legion Post No. 72 and a lifetime member of the Floyd-Harlow VFW Post No. 9787. He was a member of Paris Lodge No. 94 AF&AM and the Comets Drum and Bugle Corps. Maurice was a huge sports fan, he loved the Red Sox and the Patriots. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and horse racing. More than anything he loved his family.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty (Keniston) Paul of South Paris; daughter, Lorraine Lambert and her husband, Barry, of South Paris; son, Timothy of Norway; grandsons, Derek and his wife, Katie, of South Berwick and Brandon Paul and his companion, Christine Banville, of Hebron; great-grandson, Jackson Lambert; and close family friend, Barry Small.
