1924 – 2016
AUBURN — Peter C. Daignault, 92, of New Gloucester was called to his heavenly home after a brief illness on Sunday, Aug. 14.
He was born on Feb. 26, 1924, in Topsham the son of Paul and Rose (McDuff) Daignault.
Peter graduated from Edward Little High School in the Class of 1943. He then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He attended Thomas College in Waterville and Auburn School of Commerce.
Following his discharge from the Navy, Peter married his childhood sweetheart, Theresa F. Martin. They had recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.
Peter had a career as a life insurance salesman, followed by fulfilling his aspiration to enter into the ministry. He was the founding pastor of Eastgate Christian Fellowship where he continued pastoral duties until his recent illness.
At the age of 70, Peter took up oil painting as a hobby. He soon developed into an accomplished artist. He completed more than several hundred paintings over the past years. Peter could often be seen adding paint to a new canvas with his devoted wife Theresa by his side admiring his work.
Peter is survived by his wife, Theresa; daughters, Suzanne Roy of Auburn, Louise and husband, Peter Goodridge, of Gray, and Theresa and David McCabe of Gray. He also leaves grandchildren, Jill and Natalie Goodridge of Massachusetts, Jacob and Anna McCabe and Sam (McCabe) Johnson of Gray, Joline Fournier of Litchfield, and Richard M. Roy and his wife, Kristen, of Raymond; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Chloe and Nathan Fournier, Trenton Atherton, Caden Roy, Noah Legere and Grace and Isaac McCabe; and several nephews and a niece.
He was predeceased by his parents; and twin brother, Paul Daignault.
