AUBURN — Auburn Adult and Community Education has announced that it’s taking registration for fall courses.
Some of the courses offered are:
Mental Health First Aid: Class begins Tuesday, Sept. 6. Mental Health First Aid is designed to increase awareness of mental health issues and how to help those living with symptoms or in crisis.
Model Railroading: Class begins Tuesday, Sept. 6. This course will teach the basic techniques of model railroading.
Buying vs. Renting – Everything You Want To Know: Class begins Wednesday, Sept. 7. “Should I rent or should I own?” will be the question. Participants can learn from experts in the lending and real estate fields to determine which may be best for them.
Social Dancing: Class begins Wednesday, Sept. 7. This course is for people who want to learn simple moves for several dances that will give participants confidence to join the dancing crowd. A partner is required.
Storing Memories: Class begins Thursday, Sept. 8. This class will teach how to sort through photos, organize and store them for easy access, display what is special and protect them for generations to come.
Woodworking: Class begins Thursday, Sept. 8. A general familiarity with tools is essential for this course. Space and equipment will be provided. Participants provide the plans, materials and enthusiasm.
Qigong for Healing and Balance: Class begins Monday, Sept. 12. Participants will explore the benefits of this ancient art that Harvard Medical School and the Centers for Disease Control consider superior to many of the medical industry’s current treatments.
Tai Chi For Stress Relief: Class begins Tuesday, Sept. 13. Use Tai Chi meditative techniques and gentle movements to naturally and effortlessly allow the body to relax and the mind to settle.
Beacon Hospice Volunteer Training: Class begins Wednesday Sept. 14. A free 21-hour hospice volunteer training course will prepare participants to offer vital support to hospice patients in the community, serving as people who make a difference.
Digital Photography I: Class begins Thursday, Sept. 15. A professional photographer teaches this class. Participants should bring their DSLR camera with manual settings.
Seller’s Seminar: Class begins Wednesday, Sept. 21. Experts in the real estate industry will answer questions about listing, staging or refinancing homes.
Standing Guard — Protect What You’ve Worked for (Retirees): Class begins Thursday, Sept. 22. The class will share strategies designed to help guard valuable assets and protect pre- and post-retirement income.
Organizing Digital Photos: Class begins Thursday, Sept. 22. This class will take participants through a process for sorting, labeling and organizing in a way that brings joy back into looking at photos.
Middle Eastern Dance (Belly Dance): Class begins Saturday, Sept. 24. The course will teach basic moves, share some of the history behind the dance and give female participants the chance to meet other women in the community.
Art of Watercolor: Class begins Tuesday, Sept. 27. This course will teach watercolor techniques.
Acrylic Painting: Class begins Thursday, Sept. 29. Painting with acrylics is easy and looks similar to oil painting but cleans up easily with water. This course will teach techniques.
Auburn Adult and Community Education is accepting applications for the Earn-While-You-Learn Certified Nursing Assistant program. A reading assessment test and interview are required for acceptance into the class.
