First responder prayer vigil

RUMFORD — A first responder prayer vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at the Hosmer Field football field bleachers. 

The vigil is hosted by Speck Mountain Evangelistic Church for first responders, their family and the community. 

Participants may bring lawn chairs in case the bleachers fill.

Cooperative Minecrafting at Paris Library

PARIS — Minecraft enthusiasts can bring their devices and Minecraft account to Minecraft Day at the Paris Public Library.

Food mobile visiting Wilton pantry

WILTON — The Wilton Area Food Pantry will host the Good Shepherd Food Mobile from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, in the parking lot of the Wilton United Methodist Church, 600 Main St.

This is to assist any family in need of food. Those attending should bring a box to put the food in. Anyone in need is welcome to come.

Marvels and Mysteries in Rangeley

RANGELEY — Western Maine Storytelling will present an evening program of tales entitled “Marvels and Mysteries: Stories from the Mountains of Maine” from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at the Rangeley Public Library.

Free ‘My Money Works’ workshop

FARMINGTON — The nonprofit New Ventures Maine is offering a free “My Money Works” workshop at its office on 108 Perham St., Suite 2.

The 15-hour workshop will run from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesdays, Aug. 24 and 31, and Sept. 7, 14 and 21.

It’s designed to help gain the skills and confidence needed to stretch money, pay bills, reduce debt, find money for savings, plan for retirement and set personal financial goals. A follow-up session is scheduled to provide additional networking and support.

SeniorsPlus to tackle clutter 

WEST PARIS — SeniorsPlus Long Distance Learning will present Clutter Control: Tips on Gaining the Upper Hand Thursday, Aug. 25, at the West Paris Library.

The learning program connects community members in the West Paris area with live educational seminars being held at the Lewiston Education Center of SeniorsPlus.

The instructor, Deborah McLean, will speak about being paralyzed by the amount of stuff accumulated and give clutter control tips in order to get a better grip on belongings and sanity.

4th Thursday Poetry at RPL

RUMFORD — The August meeting of the Rumford Public Library’s 4th Thursday Poetry Group will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, in the air-conditioned public room.

The group reads and discusses poems written by members of the group and by favorite works of other poets. Light refreshments will be offered.
