Rumford Elk’s ‘Grillin’ Again’

RUMFORD — The Rumford Elks will host “Grillin’ Again” for members and guests from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at the Lodge.

The hot dog and baked bean meal will cost $8 per person.

Son’s of Italy yard, bake sale

RUMFORD — The Son’s of Italy will hold a yard sale and bake sale at 9 a.m. Friday to Sunday, Aug. 26 to 28, at the hall on Route 108.

Items for sale include computer desks, office chairs, cabinets, household items and more.

Christ Episcopal Church yard sale

NORWAY — Christ Episcopal Church will hold a yard sale from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at 35 Paris St.

There will be a large selection of books, household items, jewelry and China.

Breakfast and lunch dishes will be for sale.

Whatever Sale at Sumner Universalist

SUMNER — The West Sumner Universalist Church is holding the fifth annual Whatever Sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27.

This year’s event is the same as last year, featuring a ticket auction of 30 to 50 items with the drawing at 1:30 p.m. The church is seeking donations for the ticket auction, especially themed baskets in memory of loved ones.

As always the food and bake sale, cutlery sales, and a hearty lunch will be available. Anyone wishing to cook their favorite recipe will be welcomed.

This year’s fundraising efforts will focus on repairs to the crumbling foundation of the church’s horse shed, which is in danger of collapse. The horse shed is a separate structure as old as the church building itself, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is believed that this may be the only old church in Maine that still has an existing horse shed.

Benefit for liver disease victim

NEW SHARON — A benefit yard and craft sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Tuttle’s Auto Sales.

Donations for the sale may be dropped off at Tuttle’s Auto until Friday, Aug. 26. Crafters may reserve space for $25.

All proceeds will go to the Connie Gilman/Joseph Douin Liver Transplant Fund. Gilman, of Norridgewock, has been diagnosed with liver disease. Douin is donating part of his liver to Gilman.

Friends Together seeks sale items

LIVERMORE FALLS — Friends Together Peer Support and Recovery Center is seeking donations for a yard sale that will be held during the Apple Pumpkin Festival Saturday, Sept. 24. 

Donations, excluding clothing, may be dropped off at 31 Park St. next to the fire station. If no one is at the center, items may be left at the back door.

Finishing first N/S flight A were Pat Quinn and R. Verrill; second, Paul Kahlo and Nick Karamessinis; third, Mike Quinn and Mike True; and, fourth, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings. Finishing first in flight B were Linda Smith and Jack Neal, who also were first in flight C; second, Ellie and Lindy Wigton; third and second in C, Karen MacNeill and Marjorie Levesque; third in C and fourth in B, Cindy and Bob Kirchherr.

Finishing first in flight A E/W were Marta Clements and Hazel Glazier; second, Richard Balian and Misha Tomic; third, Neanie Kivus and David Lock; fourth, Shelly and David Kaminskey, who also were first in flights B and C; second in B, Georgette Jewell and Pat Soule; third in B, Marty Round and Martha Thurlow; and fourth in C, Jim Dickens and Denny Raymond.

Games are played at 9:15 a.m. Fridays in the Oxford Recreation building. All bridge players are welcome, and a partner is guaranteed.
