This is in response to Carl Bucciantini’s letter, “Vote yes on Question 2” (Aug. 14).

Fair share is paying the exact same amount for the same services. It’s two people going out to dinner together, ordering the same meals and the check comes out to $100 and they both pay $50. They both paid their fair share.

Liberals like to leave out the facts and numbers when they tug at your heart. They don’t want you to do a little math and think for yourself. Let’s use Bucciantini’s example of a person making $40,000 a year and a person making $1,000,000, paying the same tax rate. Assume each was paying 10-percent tax. A person making $40,000 per year would contribute $ 4,000 while a person making $1,000,000 would pay $100,000. This person is already carrying the load of 25 people who are making $40,000 for the same services.

These people should be praised for what they give this state. They are creating the jobs in this state and already paying more then their fair share. This is not about the children. It’s about how much more benefits the teachers association can give themselves. Do you know any company that gives its employees seven weeks paid vacation and allows them to go sailing in the Caribbean at its busiest time of the year?

An article years ago from the Sun Journal showed about 2,340 state employees were collecting retirement and still working, costing the state over $ 69,000,000 per year. You want to talk about fair — stop that and put that money back into the education fund.
