FARMINGTON — Judith G. Tappan, 76, of Wilton, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, Aug. 16.
Judi was a lifetime resident of Maine. She grew up in Augusta and attended the University of Maine at Farmington, where she received her teaching degree. Judi enjoyed teaching elementary school children until her retirement.
During her life, Judi had a love for dogs and the outdoors. Along with her family, she raised and trained bloodhounds for the show ring as well as for search and rescue. She also trained and hunted with multiple German short?haired pointers.
Judi was known as an excellent cook and gardener. For her adult life, she believed in growing and canning her own vegetables, making her own jelly and sharing her candies during the holidays.
Judi was a long-time member of the Country Square Quilters in North Jay where she held several offices over the years. She also belonged to a group of ladies called the Off Tuesday Group, which met at each other’s homes every other week and her desserts were always highly anticipated. The two groups will miss her very much.
Judi is survived by her husband, Charlie; and her brother, Bud. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alma. Judi is also survived by her children, Rocky, Ralph, Rob and Tennyson; and grandchildren, Chandler and Davis.
Condolences and tributes may be shared on her memorial wall at www.wilesrc.com.
