So, the School Department wants more land for East Auburn School? The school has been in the paper numerous times, calling for its closing, similar to C.P. Wight in North Auburn and Webster School.
Why would the East Auburn Men’s Club turn road frontage over to a school department just to sell it? The school should have been closed years ago. Every kid is bused in from away.
According to the Maine Atlas, Auburn has 1,400 fewer residents since 1986, less homesteaders, less residents, less students.
Even developer George Schott is trying to bail on Auburn’s outrageous mill rate of $22.35 per $1,000. He’s gone to Oxford where the mill rate is $12.25 per $1,000. That’s right, see why no one is coming to Auburn. The town has made itself unaffordable. No checks and balances. The school superintendent gives herself a $5,000 raise.
With that 50-cent-per-week raise for cost of living, seniors can treat themselves to an extra gallon of gas this month.
I think the mayor spends like the school superintendent because Auburn is hiring. Auburn is always hiring.
Also, Lewiston should turn the eyesore of Bates Mill into the new high school.
Can’t leave Auburn, it’s my home (sigh).
