JAY — Doe permits will soon be drawn and Jeff Newcomb wants to remind Jay-Livermore Falls Hunting Club members that it is time to be thinking about the upcoming hunting seasons.

A club supper will be held Sunday, Sept. 11 at the VFW Hall in Jay. Social hour is at 5 p.m. with supper served at 6 p.m.

The supper is free for all hunting club members. New members are always welcome, club captain Newcomb said.

Brettun’s Variety is the tagging station used by the club. Newcomb said game may be tagged in the town where it was shot, but it also needs to be weighed on Brettun’s scale for club competitions.

Members may compete in annual contests for biggest turkey, deer, moose, bear, and bobcat.

“Now is the time to be getting hunting club membership,” Newcomb said.

New members may join the club for $10. Annual dues for regular members are $20 and youth ages 10-15 pay $5. Retirees pay $10 annually.

For more information call Newcomb, 320-3967, or club president Larry Lord, 779-4306.
