AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St., has announced its teen programming for September.

Back to School Ice Cream Social: 3 to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, in the Teen Space. The ice cream social will celebrate the start of another school year. This program is just for teens ages 12 to 18.

Teen Anime Club: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens can drop in to talk about their favorite or least favorite manga, watch this week’s selection of anime and try their hand at drawing their own characters. This program was made possible by the Procter & Gamble Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation. Snacks will be provided.

Safe Voices Drop In: 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, in the Teen Space. Whitney from Safe Voices will visit to chat about relationships and work on projects. The program is just teens ages 12 to 18.

Teens! Friday Movie: “The 5th Wave”: 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, in the Androscoggin Community Room. The library will show an adaptation of the novel by Richard Yancey. Main character Cassie is on the run, desperately trying to save her younger brother from four waves of increasingly deadly alien attacks, which have left most of Earth decimated. This program is just for teens ages 13 to 18, and will include a snack.

Teens! Snack Chat: 3 to 4 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 12 and 26, in the Teen Space. Over a healthy snack, teens will engage in some enlightening conversation about current events, including topics teens pick. This program is provided by support from Jim Pittman and is just for teens ages 12 to 18.

Teens! Homework Help: 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 13, 20 and 27, in the Teen Space. Teens can get help in any subject giving them difficulty. This program is just for teens ages 12 to 18 and will include a healthy snack.

Tweens in the Teen Space: Noon to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 14, 21 and 28, in the Teen Space. On half-day Wednesdays, sixth-graders may visit the Teen Space to get a head start on their homework, make crafts, play board games, or simply hang out. 

Gaming Hour: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, and Friday, Sept. 23, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens can take a break from studying and stop by for video games and snacks. The library has an XBox, Wii and a small collection of games. Teens are welcome to bring their favorites, but only those rated T and E. This event is just for teens ages 12 to 18. It is made possible by donations from the P&G Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation.

Teens! Discoveries in STEM: 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens can join Maisy Cyr of 4-H and discover how to use science, technology and math outside the classroom. Participants may dabble in food science, animal science, simple machinery and technology, or just make some crazy creations. This program is just for teens ages 12 to 18, and will take place the third Thursday of each month.

Maine Job Corps: 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, in the conference room. Teens and new adults ages 16 to 24 may see if the Job Corps is right for them. Preregistration is required by calling 207-450-0216.

Teens! DIY Takeover: Self-Portrait Collage: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, in the Teen Space. Teens may take part in do-it-yourself projects the third Wednesday of the month. Past projects include duct tape crafts, mug cakes and sugar scrub. For this month teens will bring a picture — or take one at the library and print it off — and then make a collage which represents their personality. Teens may also make project suggestions for future meetings. This program is just for teens ages 12 to 18.

SAPARS Drop In: 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday Sept. 22, in the Teen Space. Hannah from Sexual Assault Prevention & Response Services will visit to discuss and create awareness of teen issues like healthy relationships, sexual assault, bullying, harassment, substance use and abuse and internet safety. Just for teens, this event takes place in the Teen Space and may include snacks.

DIY Teens! Media Club: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, in the CREATE! Media Lab. If teens can imagine it, they can create it in media lab. Teens ages 12 to 18 can join the Media Club. Media Club plans this year including photo journaling, stop motion animation and green screen workshops.

Banned Books Week — Stand Up for Your Right to Read!: Sunday, Sept. 25, to Sunday, Oct. 1. During Banned Books Week, teens can take a look at displays and check out a banned or challenged books.

College Night 2016: Thursday, Oct. 20, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Admissions representatives from eight colleges and universities will sit on a panel facilitated by College for Maine Androscoggin. Following the panel discussion and a brief question-and-answer session, there will be a college fair featuring admissions representatives from 14 Maine schools with information specific to their schools. Registration is requested.
