LITCHFIELD — The Blistered Fingers Bluegrass Festival, one of New England’s largest family bluegrass festivals, got underway Wednesday, Aug. 24, at the Litchfield Fairgrounds, 30 Plains Road. The festival will conclude Sunday, Aug. 28.

The Bluegrass Festival takes place twice every year and brings thousands of music lovers from all over the world to hear banjos, fiddles and high, lonesome harmonies. It has taken place every June and August since 1991.

The festival grounds feature a big stage that was built in 2010, 18 women’s and 18 men’s indoor bathroom facilities, four free hot showers and numerous water and electrical hookups.

Scheduled for Saturday:

The Gibson Brothers of New York, Band Of Ruhks of Tennessee, Zink & Company, Phat Burger Deluxe of Maine, The Zolla Boys of Connecticut, and the host band, Blistered Fingers of Maine.

Bluegrass Gospel Sing & Jam of Massachusetts will appear Sunday.

Tickets are available at the gate. Children 16 and under are free with a paying adult. Saturday only, $30; after 5 p.m., $20.
