Sen. Eric Brakey recently surprised us with a visit to our home. His mission was to listen to the views of his constituents.

In the two years since Brakey was elected, he has challenged conventional wisdom in Augusta, demonstrating that an elected official can be both principled and effective, without being a blind party loyalist.

Brakey can reach across the aisle, but also stand alone. He built bipartisan coalitions to help pass welfare reform, advocate for criminal justice and drug policy reform, and fund essential services for senior citizens.

Just as importantly, when both parties were willing to sell out the taxpayers to corporate welfare, Brakey stood up and said no. That shows his true independence and his willingness to stand up for community values.

We will be voting to re-elect Sen. Eric Brakey in November to represent Auburn, New Gloucester, Poland, Minot and Mechanic Falls.

Auburn
