Narcotics Anonymous meetings to begin
MEXICO — New meetings of Narcotics Anonymous will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Fridays at First Baptist Church of Mexico, 20 Roxbury Road.
This is an open meeting employing the 12 steps and traditions of Narcotics Anonymous and the Serenity Book.
All are welcome, including those on replacement therapy such as methadone, Suboxone or similar therapy.
Those in recovery can take advantage of this valuable resource as members seek to encourage each other to live new lives of sobriety.

Donn Barker Memorial Horseshoe Tournament
FARMINGTON — The 10th annual Donn Barker Memorial Horseshoe Tournament will be Saturday, Sept. 3, at the Farmington Elks Lodge on School Street.
Registration fee is $10 per person. Sign up begins at 10 a.m., and the games begin at noon.
Lunch will be catered, T-shirts will be available for purchase, and there will be a 50/50 raffle.
Proceeds will benefit the Elks Lodge Backyard Fund.

‘Magic of Christmas’ trip
RUMFORD — Rumford Senior Citizens is planning a trip to see “The Magic of Christmas” on Friday, Dec. 16, at Merrill Auditorium in Portland.
Those who would like to attend should sign up and pay by Sept. 15. Admission is $50 for members, $60 for nonmembers.

Softball tournament for breast cancer
RUMFORD — The second annual Breast Cancer Co-Ed Softball Tournament will be Saturday, Sept. 17, at the softball fields.
Teams must have at least two female players on the field.
Cost is $200 per team. Proceeds will benefit breast cancer research.
There will be 50/50 raffle and raffles for giveaways. Food and drinks will be available to purchase.
