Essentials of College Planning
LEWISTON — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host four free Essentials of College Planning workshops at 10 a.m. Thursdays, Sept. 1 and 22, and Wednesdays, Sept. 14 and 28, at the Lewiston CareerCenter, 5 Mollison Way.
Workshops are for adults 19 and older.

Marvels of Science Home School
AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library will collaborate with the Auburn Homeschool Community to co-sponsor Mad Science’s Marvels of Science, a six-week program for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Kids will have the opportunity for hands-on science exploration with a trained scientist. Some of the topics covered will be meteorology, mineralogy, 3D technology and space exploration.
The program will be from 10:30 to 11:30 Fridays, Sept. 6 to Oct. 18. There will not be class Oct. 21.
Cost is $80 for the six-week session. Space is limited.

Bridge Club lists winners
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners of the quarterly club championship Aug. 22 were, first, Nancy Lindgren and Les Buzzell; second and first in B and C, Paul Clement and Roger Labbe; third, Nancy Farmer and Luke Merry; fourth and second in B, Marta Clements and Hazel Glazier; and third and fourth tied in B, Ellie and George Wigton with Barbara Newcomb and Jim Krainin.
Winners Aug. 23 were, first, Richard Balian and Paul Clement; second and third tied, Marta Clements and Claire Lyons with Georgette Jewell and Patricia Soule.
Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed and all bridge players are welcome.
