WATERVILLE — Eleven local students graduated as certified nursing assistants at Lakewood Continuing Care Center in Waterville Aug. 17.
The outside pinning ceremony was attended by family, friends, administrators, teachers and community partners. Students successfully completed a collaborative program of Ready2Work provided by Lawrence Adult Education and an On-the-Job Training Program through grant funding provided by Western Maine Community Action and the Lewiston/Augusta CareerCenters.
The incentive-based program provides 50 percent of a trainee’s wages during the duration of the program.
“This is grant funding was very well spent. Our new team members are vibrant and so well prepared,” said Shannon Lockwood, Lakewood administrator. “Each person made a very important life decision when they committed to this program.”
