LEWISTON — The Dolard & Priscilla Gendron Franco Center will host French language classes for adults beginning Wednesday, Sept. 7.

Classes will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays during an eight-week session.

They are intended for those who want to improve their proficiency in French. The pace is relaxed and the class is taught in French with English explanations as needed. 

Vanessa Stasse will be teaching the course. Born in Sherbrooke, Québec, to Belgian parents, she has a master’s degree in anthropology from Laval University in Québec City. She has lived in Maine for more than 10 years, teaching French and yoga and interpreting in French, English and Portuguese.

Classes will take place in Heritage Hall. Cost is $80 for eight classes.

The Franco Center requires a minimum of eight people per class session. If that threshold is not met, full refunds will be issued to those who have already registered and paid.

The center will also offer French for Teens classes, Fun in French for children ages 4 to 12, as well as other after-school programs in partnership with community organizations.
