1939 – 2016

LEWISTON  — Gerlinde Isolde (Weger) Wilson, 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 26, at Marshwood Nursing Home in Lewiston.

She was born in Einhausen Kreis Bergstrasse, Germany, on Jan. 13, 1939, the daughter of the late Philipp and Isolde (Knauber) Weger.

Gerlinde met the love of her life, Gerry Wilson, while he was stationed in Germany and they were married July 19, 1958. They moved to Maine, where she lived the rest of her life, sharing 58 years together.

Her family was the center of her life. She spent her time caring for their four children and, when time allowed, she enjoyed knitting and sewing. Music was her biggest passion. On Saturday mornings she would send the kids outside, stack a pile of classical records on the stereo and blast music while she cleaned the house.

Gerlinde was a devout Catholic, attending Mass most recently at Prince of Peace Parish. She sang in the church choir and on Christmas would sing a “Silent Night” solo in German.
