NEW SHARON — A Jay man said Thursday morning that when he tried to avoid a deer, his car struck a guardrail on Farmington Falls Road.

Chad Simoneau, 26, complained of pain but refused medical attention, Franklin County Deputy Andrew Morgan said. He believed Simoneau was going to be driven to a hospital by private vehicle.

Simoneau was issued a summons on a misdemeanor charge of attaching false plates to the PT Cruiser, which crossed the opposite lane into a field, Morgan said.

The accident was reported at 6:15 a.m. near the Farmington town line.

New Sharon Fire Department assisted at the scene.
