After reading letters to the editor from several area residents printed in local newspapers, I am jumping on board as a concerned resident of Andover.
Nestle Corp. is trying to take water belonging to the people in those towns and the people must have a say in where that water goes. The finagling in policies, politics or whatever it takes to get their way, is what ultra-large corporations such as Nestle do. They know that water districts similar to Andover’s and Rumford’s are in money straits, especially with regard to infrastructure, so they proceed to “pull the wool over the eyes” of whomever they can. Then they can go on with their endeavor to make a lot of money.
Being busy with many other things, I admit, at first glance, I understood the desire to take advantage of the offer. Now, I am hoping that, like myself, the Rumford Water District, after looking into the ramifications, will understand that something that looks too good to be true really isn’t in the best interest of the people it will affect.
