LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine has openings for preschool children ages 2½ to 5 years old.

The trained and compassionate staff at the YWCA engages preschool children in creative learning, whether it is a circle time with the calendar, reading books, counting or concentrating on a teacher-designed activity or project.

Recreational time with swim lessons and splash parties, outside play time, free choice activities and a chance to run and play games in the gym are also available.

There are full-time spots available or alternative part-time options for those who are looking for a less-expensive solution or social opportunity for a child.

The YWCA also has openings for children before and after school. The before-school program starts at 7 a.m. and lasts until the bus comes to bring the children to Farwell Elementary and Martel schools. The after-school program serves all Lewiston schools except Longley. The YWCA offers a safe and fun environment for children to gain new friendships, receive homework help and enjoy fun and creative activities. On Fridays, the YWCA offers an hour of swim time in the pool.

The YWCA also offers a place for children during vacations, snow days, holidays or teacher workshop days from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with an option for full day care that includes fun activities and swim time in the pool.

This year, extended care in the morning from 6:30 to 7 a.m. and 5:30 to 6 p.m. is being offered for an additional fee for all programs.
