PROSPECT (AP) — Maine State Police say speed is the cause of a one-vehicle crash in Prospect that killed two men and critically injured a third.

The crash took place at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday on the North Searsport Road in Prospect when a pickup truck hit a utility pole and rolled over several times before coming to rest upright. All three passengers were ejected from the vehicle.

Police say 59-year-old John Moriarty, of Bangor, and 35-year-old Brad Pomeroy, of Searsport, died at the scene of the crash.

Thirty-one-year-old Adam Littlefield, of Winterport, was taken to the Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor where he is listed in critical condition.

Investigators say they do not know who was driving.
