AUBURN — Local historian and author John Henderson will present his new book “Na Eireannach Na hAndroscoggin: The Irish of the Androscoggin” at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, in the Auburn Public Library’s Androscoggin Community Room.
This book goes deeper than his last into the story of the Irish in Lewiston-Auburn, and has been expanded to cover Lisbon, Minot, Poland, Wales, Leeds and Greene.
New topics include Irish women, newspapers, John F. Murphy Homes, theater and the military. The new book also presents 10 boldly colored plates of Lewiston and Auburn architecture closely associated with the Irish. These were created by Henderson.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
There will be a second presentation at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, for those unable to attend this one.
