1939 – 2016

LEESBURG, Fla. — Constance G. Siegel, 77, formerly of 192 Carefree Lane, Leesburg, Fla., died on the morning of Thursday, July 7, due to complications with pneumonia, COPD and emphysema at the South Campus Rehab & Nursing Center, where she had been a patient for several weeks.

Born in Lewiston on Feb. 15, 1939, she was the daughter of Jacques Mathieu and Bernadette Poulin Mathieu. She was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from St. Dom’s in the Class of 1957.

She worked for many years at St. Johnsbury Trucking, where she eventually retired. She married Maurice Siegel and lived in New Auburn on Seventh Street for many years before becoming a snow bird after retirement and moving to Leesburg during the winter months.

She was a member of the Emblem Club and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 153 of New Auburn. She was also a past member of the Pastime Club.

Connie, as she was known to her friends and family, loved to bird watch and work in her garden prior to retirement. She loved to travel, going to Washington, DC on her senior trip in high school and also attending the national convention for the Emblem Club on several occasions with her husband, Maurice. One of her favorite trips was to the island of Hawaii.

She is survived by a nephew, Daniel Lebrun and his wife, Diane, and their three adult children, Jennifer Mercier, Adam and Meghan Lebrun.

She was predeceased by her husband, Maurice on June 18, 1999; by her father, Jacques Mathieu in 1989; her mother, Bernadette in 2000; as well as her sister, Jacqueline Lebrun in 2004.
