1939 – 2016

NORWAY — Stanley E. Nurmi Sr. died Friday, Sept. 9, in Norway following a brief illness.

He was born in Lewiston on June 26, 1939, the son of Edward and Gertrude Nurmi, and attended local schools. After graduating, he served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of American Legion Post No. 72.

Stanley had been employed as a carpenter at local manufactured housing companies. He was an avid sportsman and especially enjoying hunting and fishing.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Mary Russell Nurmi; one son, Stanley Nurmi Jr. of West Paris; one daughter, Lisa Nurmi of South Paris; and one brother, Bill Nurmi of Oxford.

He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Nurmi; and sister, Pauline Nurmi.
