KINGFIELD — Two Madison men are accused of breaking into Kingfield Wood Products late Saturday and rummaging through items.

Jonathan Maginnis, 24, and Dylan Ricker, 24, were each arrested Sunday on a felony charge of burglary, State Police Trooper Andrew Hardy said Monday night.

A conviction on the charge is punishable by a maximum 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

An employee who was staying upstairs at the Depot Street business was awakened at 11:55 p.m. Saturday to flashlights shining under a doorway, according Hardy’s report filed with the court. She told police she went to the next room, turned on the lights and saw two young men with bandanas covering their faces and carrying flashlights.

The men were rummaging through items and appeared to have pulled a laptop out of a bag and were putting it into a backpack, according to Hardy’s report.

The woman told police that one of the men turned toward her and pulled his mask down. She recognized him as Jonathan Maginnis, with whom she worked. She told the men they needed to leave. The men picked up the backpack, left the laptop behind and left the building through a side door.

The incident was reported to Maine State Police. Hardy and Trooper Eric Bronson traveled to Madison to interview Maginnis and Ricker at their apartment on Sunday. Following the interview, police confiscated the backpack and bandanas and arrested them.

It was discovered the men managed to get a window open in the office and climbed inside, according to Hardy’s report.

Ricker posted $500 cash bail Monday to be released from jail. Maginnis was being held on $500 cash bail Tuesday at the jail.
