Take a Walk in Our Shoes

FRYEBURG — MWV Supports Recovery will host Take a Walk in Our Shoes at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 18. Walkers will travel from the Fryeburg Fairgrounds at Swans Fall Road to the stateline visitors center.

The walk will show support for addicts, their families and those in the community struggling with addiction. It will give a voice to those who have died from addiction and suicide by spreading awareness, demanding treatment and supporting prevention efforts.

Historical Society to see Fire Department history

RUMFORD — The Rumford Historical Society will hold its first fall meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at the Town Hall auditorium.

The speaker will be Rumford Fire Chief Robert Chase. He will discuss the history of the department since the early 1900s. The department has had numerous fire chiefs over the years, and their photos can be seen at the Rumford Historical Society’s Lufkin Museum in Rumford Center.

The program will be preceded by a short business meeting, and light refreshments will be served after Chase’s presentation.

The event is open to the public. Attendees must enter and leave the Town Hall through the River Street entrance.

Donations sought for clothing giveaway

NORWAY — A free clothing giveaway will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Norway Grange Hall on Whitman Street.

Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church and the Norway Grange have teamed up to offer this event, called the 3-C Giveaway. Event will provide free clothes, cookies and coffee. There is also a limited amount of new socks and underwear as well as some household and bedding articles.

This event is open to anyone needing clothes or who would simply enjoy a time of fellowship. There are no income eligibility guidelines.

Donations may be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, Sept. 19 to 23, at the Norway Grange. There is a great need for new underwear and socks.

Clothing is collected throughout the year.

Gel printing at Whitman Library

BRYANT POND — Artists Charlotte Winchester and Juli McGown will present a demonstration of their gel printing at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Whitman Memorial Library.

Their work is currently on display at the library. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Paris resident national merit semifinalist

PARIS — Zane A. Dustin of Paris is a semifinalist for the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Dustin is a student at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

Crafters, vendors sought for fair

WILTON — Wilton Parent Teacher Forum is seeking crafters and vendors for its annual craft fair, which will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Academy Hill School, 585 Depot St.

The cost is $20 per table.
