1936 – 2016

RUMFORD — Caroline J. Collins, 80, of Rumford passed away Saturday, Aug. 27, at home, with her loving family by her side.

She was born May 26, 1936, in Dixfield, a daughter of Claude and Gertrude (Welch) Merrill. Caroline married Theodore M. Collins Sr. on Oct. 24, 1966, in Waterbury, Conn. In June 1972, they moved to Phoenix, Ariz., where she resided until 2015, when she returned to Maine.

Surviving are her children, Wayne Mansur and wife, Jolene, of Phoenix, Ariz., Anne Leonard of Rumford and Theodore Collins III of Sheridan, Ore.; five grandchildren, Sarah White and husband, Mike, of Peru, Sonia Conley of Rumford, Theodore Collins IV of Rumford, Joshua Mansur of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jennifer Mansur of Rumford; seven great-grandchildren, Eric, Ashlynn, Autumn, Dj, Chad, Mason and Ava; four sisters, Frances Holmquist of Peru, Laura Brown of Portland, Lois Bellegarde of Mexico and Lorraine Plaisted of Rockland; four brothers, Elwin Merrill, Cleon Merrill, Carroll Merrill of Peru and Paul Merrill of Roxbury; and many, many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Leon Merrill, Melvin Merrill, Irving Merrill and Erwin Merrill; two sisters, Eleanor Leo and Marilyn Bachelder; and a son-in-law of 36 years, Michael Leonard.
