ANSWER: It may still be summer but Mainers know it’s never too early to start thinking about snow removal. Here are a few names from my rolodex:

Benner & Son, a landscaping company, offers snow removal. They are based in Auburn and can be reached by calling (207) 782-4920.

Eddie’s Maintenance is another snow removal service. They offer snow blowing and can even clean off your roof. You can reach them by calling (207) 212-0852.

Brown’s Construction is a construction company that specializes in roofing and siding but they also assist with home projects of all sizes, including snow removal. You can reach them by calling (207) 224-2226.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Saturday, September 24 from 8 a.m. to noon there will be a free clothing give away at the Norway Grange Hall on Whitman Street in Norway.

Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church and the Norway Grange have teamed up to offer this event coined as the 3-C Giveaway, providing free clothes, cookies and coffee. There is also a limited amount of new socks and underwear as well as some household and bedding articles.

The free community breakfast held each Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Norway Grange will be a limited breakfast during this 3-C Event. The full breakfast menu will resume the following Saturday.

We welcome all members of the community to join us. This event is open to anyone needing clothes or anyone who would simply enjoy a time of fellowship of coffee, cookies and great conversation. There is no income eligibility required to come to this event.

Donations may be dropped off at the Norway Grange on Monday, September 19 through Friday, September 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is a great need for new underwear and socks. Clothing is collected throughout the year. This event is done in the spring and fall each year.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Canton Recreation Department is sponsoring a Town Fair on October 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is an outdoor event being held at the ball field on School Street. The town fair will have entertainment, food and kids’ activities. There is vendor space available.

In addition, any children wanting to participate in our contests are welcome to submit their work for photography or arts and crafts. Prizes will be awarded in the following age groups: under 8, 8 to 12 and over 12. Photography images are to be submitted on 8X10 photograph paper. All entries should be brought to the Canton Town Office on or before Wednesday, October 12 for judging. The Canton Town Office is located at 94 Turner Street.
