1934 – 2016

AUBURN — LTC Joseph S. Morin, CRNA, 81, passed peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Hospice House in Auburn, surrounded by his loving family. He was a resident of Penobscot Street in Rumford.

Born in Sanford on Nov. 25, 1934, he was a son of Sylvester and Bella L. (Parent) Morin. He was a graduate of St. Ignatius High School in Sanford, Class of 1953, attended St. Francis College in Biddeford, graduated from Alexian Brothers Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, Ill., Class of 1961, and then St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Anesthesia in Worcester, Mass., Class of 1963.

He worked as a nurse anesthetist at Rumford Hospital, where he worked for more than 29 years, until his retirement in 1992. Following his retirement, he worked part time at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Joe served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, Vietnam War and Desert Storm.

Joe was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church in Rumford, where he was very active in the church choir; member of the Robert Shand Post No. 1641, VFW; Napoleon Ouellette Post No. 24, American Legion; life member of Reserve Officers Association. He was formerly active as a Boy Scout leader.

He enjoyed the outdoors, including fishing, hiking and hunting, and he was a hunting safety instructor. He especially loved to spend time with his family.

Joe was married in Bangor on Dec. 30, 1958, to Lucy A. Stark, who survives of Rumford. Other survivors include two daughters, Janice Clohosey and husband, Edward, of Coral Springs, Fla., Diane Roberts and husband, Gregory, of South Paris; two sons, Michael Morin and wife, Lorie, of Lewiston and Robert Morin and wife, Renee, of Biddeford; 13 grandchildren, Jason Clohosey and wife, Elizabeth, of Cary, N.C., Matthew Clohosey and fiancée, Jessica Silva, of Durham, N.C., Ryan Clohosey of Coral Spring, Fla., SPC Daniel Dore, U.S. Army of Woodstock, Kayla McGee and husband, Thomas, of Gray, Thomas Carr and wife, Jennifer, of Brunswick, Michael Morin Jr. of Saco, twins, Katie and Nicole Morin of Lewiston, Dale Morin of Lewiston, Gregory Morin of Biddeford, Lily Morin of Somerville, Mass. and Alison Morin of Biddeford; one great-granddaughter, Lucy McGee of Gray; one step-granddaughter, Nicole Martin and husband, Luke, of Norway; two step-great-granddaughters, Carla and Elizabeth Martin of Norway.
