1927 – 2016
RUMFORD — Yvonne M. Barrieau, 88, died Thursday, Sept. 15, at the Rumford Community Home. She was a resident of Penobscot Street in Rumford.
Born in Rumford on Dec. 30, 1927, she was a daughter of Theophile and Alice (Robichaud) Lanteigne. She was a graduate of Mexico High School and worked as a CNA at the Cozy Inn Nursing Home, The Little Folks Shop in Rumford and the social services department at the Rumford Hospital as an assistant.
Yvonne was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church in Rumford. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, summers at the camp at Concord Pond and was an avid reader.
She was married in Rumford on Jan. 21, 1950, to J. Leonard “Slim” Barrieau, who survives of Rumford. Other survivors include three daughters, Suzanne Brown and husband, Nick, of Mexico, Jo-Ann Broomhall and husband, Scott, of Rumford and Sandy Barrieau of Norway; two sons, Timothy Barrieau and his wife, Lisa, of Rumford and Jeff Barrieau of Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Gloria Desalle of Rumford.
She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Niki Keogh.
